Collections Care Initiative

Administered by the National Collections Program, in consultation with Smithsonian senior leadership and the Smithsonian Collections Advisory Committee (SCAC), the Collections Care Initiative (CCI) funds unit-specific, multi-unit, and SI-wide projects that advance pan-Institutional collections stewardship priorities on a non-competitive basis. Consideration for support through CCI include projects which may exceed the financial limits or time constraints of the Collections Care and Preservation Fund (CCPF).

Projects supported by CCI address collections-related Inspector General audit recommendations, the ongoing replacement of substandard collections storage equipment, and support for new and emerging priority initiatives - a sampling of which include:
